Kloos Withdraws Hugo Nomination

Marko Kloos, who was nominated for this year’s Hugo Awards for his novel Lines of Departure, has withdrawn his nomination due to its inclusion on the ‘Rapid Puppies’ ballot. He outlines his reasoning here, and while we’re sad to see that his book won’t get a shot at Science Fiction’s top honor, we can’t really blame him.

This year’s Hugo awards have been a bit of a mess, to say the least, but that doesn’t mean that his book isn’t worth reading, and we’d highly recommend picking them up, especially if you’re a fan of John Scalzi’s Old Man’s War series.

In its place, The Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu (and translated by Ken Liu) has been nominated, which is an excellent book. Incidentally, we’re reading it this month for May’s GMS Book Club.
