Erin Moulton is currently entertaining me with her latest novel, Chasing the Milky Way, and she’s just unveiled the plot and cover for her next, Keepers of the Labyrinth!
Here’s what it’s about:
Lilith Bennette runs at midnight. She scales walls in the dark and climbs without a harness. She hopes that if she follows exactly in the steps of her strong, air-force pilot mother, she’ll somehow figure out the mystery of her mother’s death—and the reason why her necklace of Greek symbols has been missing ever since.
So when Lil is invited to Crete for a Future Leaders International Conference, the same conference her mom attended years ago, she jumps at the chance to find some answers. But high in the mountains of Crete, tucked away from civilization, beautiful Melios Manor holds a secret. Lilith and her hall mates, Sydney, Charlie and Kat overhear their mentors mention something that they know has nothing to do with the conference. They see them retrieve an artifact from a locked safe. And that artifact looks just like the necklace that Lil’s mother wore. But what does it mean? And what does it have to do with the counselors?
The girls aim to find out by sneaking back into the library, but their mentor unexpectedly shows up wounded. Soon they are handed the artifact and thrust through a secret door, pursued by those who have an unrelenting desire for it. With no other way to go but forward, the girls face a labyrinth filled with ancient mechanisms. Each chamber they pass through, in hopes for the exit, is deadlier than the last. They find themselves unraveling a thread of mythological proportions. Lil can see the artifact and the labyrinth and their predators go together, but what do they have to do with Lil’s mom? Lil moves forward, remembering her mothers favorite saying, Min zeis aplos. Zeis tolmira. Don’t just live. Live boldly. But is Lil bold enough to navigate the labyrinth without becoming one of the bodies entombed below the manor?
