I put out a call the other day to see what people were reading, or what they’d recommend.
Tyler: Currently reading a Best of Lovecraft anthology. My recommendation: Things That Never Were, by Matt Rossi.
Philip: Now: I Shall Wear Midnight by Terry Pratchett. Recent & recommended, Hobb’s Soldier son series, Drunkard’s Walk by Mlodinow.
Andrew: Currently reading Leviathan Wakes by James Corey. Recently picked up Embedded, by Dan Abnett.
Trisha: Just finished ‘The Bitch in the House, now I’m reading ‘The Meaning of Wife‘. Geeking out by learning about marriage. I’m also reading How To Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe, [by Charles Yu] and Emma, Jane Watson. Additionally, I’m reading Paler Shades of White & The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy out loud to my [significant other].
Rob: Prydain Chronicles closed out the winter, kicking off spring with Lee Smolin’s ‘The Trouble with Physics‘. Also: Name of the Wind, FTW.
Caroline: Song of Ice and Fire series, to start.
Jake: Reading a large assortmant of books on community development and new media. [Grad School]
Alex: Most of my reading is either law texts of political blogs. Bookwise, I read most of the Dresden Files recently.
Frank: Reading right now: Earth, by David Brin.
Angelia: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I’ll let you know when I’m done if I’d recommend it. Last series read was The Dresden Files: not exactly mental excercise but very fun quick reads for those that don’t mind a bit of warlocks, vampires, other non-human folks, and talking skulls in the mix
Christine: Solomon Kane by Howard. Great book!! I read some Brin a looong time ago–I think Startide Rising?–and very much enjoyed it.
There you have it: good mix of science fiction / fantasy books. What have you read lately – what would you recommend?
